New ordering option for companies with ERP: purchasing orders by email
Until now, the separation between design and purchasing was handled via separate user accounts. By popular demand, Blexon now offers an additional ordering option. Quotes can now be saved and forwarded by email for internal approval.
The new ordering option supports especially larger companies with defined purchasing and approval processes. The design department can create a complete quote and forward it to purchasing for internal approval. The order can later be triggered directly from the approved quote – even without your own Blexon account.
The STEP files are still uploaded directly in the sheet metal portal. Ordering by email serves exclusively to pass on finished quotes internally and to order centrally through the purchasing department.
This is how the design department creates a quote and forwards it internally:
- Upload and configure sheet metal parts as a STEP file in the sheet metal portal
- Select delivery option or pickup
- Create the quote
- Download the quote and forward it by email (possible directly in the sheet metal portal)
- Purchasing checks the quote and places the order – even without its own Blexon account
With «Save quote», the design department creates a quote and forwards it to purchasing for internal approval.
A delivery time is stated in the quote. The binding delivery date is confirmed with the order confirmation.
Thanks to the new ordering option, collaboration between design and purchasing for sheet metal sourcing becomes even easier:
- usual ordering through the purchasing department
- less coordination effort between design and purchasing
- no duplicate data entry
- easier integration into existing ERP and approval processes
